Abstract
This paper presents a combined multiscale modeling and classical laminate theory (CLT) approach to predict mechanical properties of 3D-printed fiber-reinforced polymer parts made by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). The study leverages asymptotic homogenization techniques and discusses the limitations of micromechanics using simple unit cells. The work compares homogenized and CLT-based predictions against experimental results to validate accuracy and reliability in predicting stiffness and anisotropic behavior of printed parts.
