Abstract
This poster presents the mechanical and numerical characterization of functionally graded materials (FGMs) fabricated via the multi-material fused filament fabrication (FFF) process. Voxelized designs were used to manufacture test specimens, which were evaluated under tensile, flexural, and compression loads. Gradient joints outperformed interlock and direct joints in tensile strength. ANOVA analysis was performed, and mesoscale homogenization with Ansys Material Designer showed <10% error versus experimental results. The study demonstrates a low-cost method for fabricating FGMs with potential in medical, automotive, and structural industries.
